Java Developer
Contract
About the role
For an innovative software product company in Ghent, we're looking for a Java Developer to strengthen a growing engineering team.
You'll contribute to the development and evolution of a large-scale enterprise platform used by organisations across multiple countries. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll help build high-quality software solutions, contribute to new functionality, and support the continuous improvement of a modern cloud-based product.
You'll join an international and collaborative environment where ownership, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning are encouraged.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality Java applications
- Design and implement robust backend solutions
- Build and enhance APIs and integrations with internal and external systems
- Contribute to architecture and technical design discussions
- Work closely with product teams, analysts, and fellow developers
- Participate in code reviews and help drive best practices
- Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD, and overall software quality
Your profile
- At least 3 years of experience in Java development
- Strong knowledge of Java 17 (Java 21 is a plus)
- Experience with Spring Boot and REST APIs
- Good understanding of SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with modern development practices and tools such as Git, Maven, Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Strong problem-solving skills and a quality-focused mindset
- Fluent in English
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud-native environments
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, or NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with Angular or other frontend technologies
- Experience working in Agile teams
